Setup Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
MFA protects Hoʻoilina and your accounts from compromise and cyber threats. This is a requirement for anyone who has Hoʻoilina system access.
Instructions
Before beginning - Find and install the “Microsoft Authenticator” app on your phone through your app store. The logo looks like this:

If you already have the app installed, please have it open and ready for the following setup process.
-
On your computer, open a web browser to https://aka.ms/MFASetup. (Sign into your Office 365 account with your Hoʻoilina Company email address if you are not already signed in.)
- On the next webpage, Select Add sign-in method from the Security info page.

- Choose Authenticator app as your method

- You should now get a similar pop-up to the window below making sure you have installed the Microsoft Authenticator App. Once you have the app, click next.

- Follow the on-screen instructions and select ‘Work or School Account’.
- The next window will setup your Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone using a QR Code. Follow the steps on the website to complete the setup. When you have scanned the code to complete the setup on your phone, click “Next” on the website.

- The website will load a new window AND you will receive a message on the Microsoft Authenticator phone app to “Approve” the sign in and type in the number on the website. Approve the sign in on your phone and then hit next on the website.

- The next website screen may ask you for your cell phone number as a backup authentication and recovery method. Follow the instructions on the website and hit next to proceed.

- Click Done on the next website screen (Additional security verification) and you have completed MFA setup!

If you change phones, phone numbers or have other problems using the authenticator app, please email the help desk or visit the portal. Thanks!
